There is a great deal of extraordinary measures being taken around Covid-19.
But there seems to be very little rational thought about what is being done.
What if I told you that the World Health Organisation estimates 290 000 to 650 000 deaths from…
Covid-19? Actually not.
The World Health Organisation estimates 290 000 to 650 000 deaths from Seasonal Accute Respiratory Disease (flu) this year, and every year.
And 3 to 5 million cases. Here is the quote, and the link:
“Illnesses range from mild to severe and even death. Hospitalization and death occur mainly among high risk groups. Worldwide, these annual epidemics are estimated to result in about 3 to 5 million cases of severe illness, and about 290 000 to 650 000 respiratory deaths.”

As of today, there have been 69,346 deaths attributed to coronavirus.
So this pandemic has come nowhere close to the severity of annual flu.
We have never closed down the entire working and social life of the world due to the annual flu. So it is hard to understand why we are doing so now. It appears to be mass hysteria fostered by media and government who want to be seen to do the right thing.
In case you are thinking that Covid-19 is something different to the flu, here is a Virology expert who is baffled as to what all the fuss is about:
